THE INVISIBLE GODS HAND THAT SAVED MY DAY

About two years back, I had gone to the airport to drop my daughter for the morning flight . I had to wake up at 3'O clock morning , I was tired and driving my Santro car at about 8O'clock. I was feeling sleepy. On the road connecting Jorabridge and Singha Bari, it is a short cut & goes by the side of the Eastern Metropolitan Club. It is a single lane road, on the two sides the footpaths are about one foot high. Between the Gate no.1 and gate no.2, I doozed off.. Suddenly a jerk wake me up and I saw that the two right hand wheels were on the foot path .
Luckily by God's grace no vehicle was coming and no pedestrian was there. I simply moved my steering to the left a bit and my car was on the safe side of the road. However a fear went down my spine . What would have happened , if there were vehicles on the right side or any padestrian on the foot path. The day was saved , however I now analyze the events what would have happended.
1. Had I knocked down a padestrian
2. If any vehicle was there in my path

SMART PHONE - IS IT ESSENTIAL

A phone  is a phone,  the basic need of a phone is to communicate.  Some people think that it is a waste of money to have a smart  phone.  If you have a smart phone you can not only communicate,  you can do photography,  you can have the  Internet at hand, you can send photos by WhatsApp,  connect to people,  down & up load images or information.
To fully utilization all the above facilities you have to learn , which some people think is difficult after a certain age. It is not a difficult  job to learn , if you devote time.  Again the younger generation think why should old people  need a costly  phone, it is a waste.  I think it is more useful for older people , because it is a wonderful  toy to spent time and have information in your tips. Which is their legitimate right.

TYPE WRITER TO COMPUTER

One of the jobs of a Scientist as I joined ICAR-NIRJAFT Kolkata way back in 1976 was typing of papers for publications.  Typing in mechanicl type writer was tedious,  if you made a mistake you have to type the whole page again. Then came the electronic type writer, which had limited editing facility as well as saving the documents. Gradually  Computer was introduced way back in late eighties. First word star was the processing soft ware, the 1st paper I typed was in ward star, soon ward perfect was intoduced. That time early ninety I was told by my colleagues back from IIT that word was the latest soft ware. Since then there has been no looking back and till now we are using word for word processing.
My advantage was I knew how to type which I learnt in a commercial  type school in Delhi just after finishing M Sc.
